Tim Atkin: Mid-ruby/red. Oaky, rather nondescript nose. Drying palate, lacking in distinction or complexity. Oak-dominated. Drying out. Simple, jammy fruit flavors 11

Stephen Brook: Deep to very deep red. Sweet spicy nose, with a good deal of what may well be American oak. There’s aromatic complexity, with plums and mocha and a dash of vanilla. On the palate, there’s a good attack, with plenty of acidity and drive. It’s not that weighty or burly but has freshness and balance. Probably not for long cellaring but an attractive medium-term wine with vibrancy and quite good length 15

Alex Hunt: Dense, ripe, alcoholic nose. This wine has some concentration up-front but is straightforward and obvious, revealing few details in its short journey across the palate. The sour-cherry acidity lends freshness but also jars slightly 13
