Alex Hunt: Luxurious, heady nose of blackcurrant, cocoa, and vanilla. It poses the question: Will the palate be too sweet? Happily, the answer is no. If anything, the palate is surprisingly herbal, with more tobacco and warm-leaf notes than overt fruit. This is balanced by appealing plumpness of texture and a sensitive acid-tannin structure. The finish is a little rough and earthy, though - 15

Andrew Jefford: Saturated black-red. Quite a sweet nose, here, with a must-like strain and very faint herbaceousness. A more savory, saline style of fruit than the run of play, with ample depths, though stylistically the wine lacks a little width and resonance. Almost liquorous concentration. South American in its salty-licorice leatheriness; a gaucho classic - 15.5

Jancis Robinson: Blackish crimson. Rich, sweet, brambly nose. Hints of tea leaves. Interesting! Very mellow and ripe on the front palate and then it’s nicely zipped up to retain the refreshment factor on the finish. Zesty and quite serious and intriguing. Succulent. Drink to 2020 - 17
