Alex Hunt: Dark and brooding on the nose, not revealing too much yet, with notes of blackberry jam and smoke. The palate has excellent grip and density without resorting to excess sweetness or massive concentration. The finish reveals a promising cedary direction for the wine’s future development - 17
Andrew Jefford: Glossy midnight black. This has a little herbaceousness to it, but in this flight of generally sweet or super-sweet noses, the faintly grassy note provides some welcome freshening. This wine is deep, smooth, soft, and amply upholstered, with impressive textures, too. On the palate, that faint aromatic greenness disappears; the wine is dense, toothsome, and more classically sweet than the nose suggested. Perhaps the finish is a little abrupt, and it is slightly less subtle than some; nonetheless, it’s still a classy wine. Black pastilles on the finish - 14.5
Jancis Robinson: Dark, healthy crimson. High toned. Something almost Italian about the bouquet of this very ripe wine. The flavor seems a little baked out. There’s not a really vital core of fruit, but it is very well made. No exaggerations. Drink to 2014 - 16
