BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Mid-ruby, some development. Reductive nose, but attractive meat-and-pepper-spice nose. Like a mini Crozes-Hermitage from a cooler vintage, with spice and fresh acidity on the palate. A little austere on the finish, but another wine that I’d like to drink. Not too oaky or tannic or overextracted 16.5

Jesús Barquín: Medium-deep cherry. Vegetal but, at the same time, quite ripe. This has character but is not up to the quality of the previous two. This is tighter and more astringent, with concentrated coffee notes. Very interesting anyway, and difficult to rate. I still wonder if its personality should deserve an extra point 15

Simon Field: Modest of color, but with a satisfying nose that marries leafy character, red fruit, and a hint of saddle leather. This is a slightly bony example, upon which a little more flesh may have secured more generous recognition 15
