BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Youthful purple/garnet. Meaty, savory, almost gravy-like nose. Heady like a good stew. Aromatic, with a hint of underlying greenness, hinting at whole bunch. Very Rhône-like, peppery, spicy, with medium alcohol and fresh acidity. Layer upon layer of flavor; medium tannins, impressive length. Very finely balanced. Delicious wine- 18.5

Alex Hunt: A fairly resinous oak quality dominates the wine here. Other aspects are well handled —tannins are supple, fruit ripe, acid in balance, and so on—but the character is quashed by the oak- 12

Anthony Rose: Good bright youthful ruby color; ripe, sweet, paprika spicy aromas; attractively opulent blackberry-rich fruit on the palate, good youthful concentration of flavor and intensity, with a fine purity and seamlessness of black fruit framed by a textured firm backbone and savory freshness. Still youthful now but should develop nicely over the next few years- 18
