Tim Atkin: Very dense color, saturated. The nose is a little oak-dominated, perhaps, but this is an impressively complex wine with masses of bacon fat, vanilla, and spice on the palate. Maybe it’s just a little OTT, with the spice drying out the palate slightly, but it’s a really good wine in a cool-climate style- 17

Alex Hunt: Rich, creamy, oaky nose: blueberries with vanilla ice cream. Not too sweet and gloopy on the palate, though the vanilla note is fairly dominant. Plenty of individual character; nicely done- 14

Anthony Rose: Rich youthful color, classic Rhônish sweet spice. Licorice and tar on the nose; very Crôzes in its aromatic profile, attractively peppery and spicy cool-climate black fruit with ripe sweet succulent tannins and juicy acidity; a tad more opulent than northern Rhône, marking it out as New Zealand; finishing with good food-friendly grip and savory acidity- 16.5
