Andrew Jefford: Mid-gold in color. Affable but rather inarticulate scents: white fruit, but it’s hard to be more precise than that. Firm, full, chunky: white peach and a lump of nougat. Pleasant, affable, and broad-beam, but I’d be looking for a bit more finesse for a top score. 84
Andreas Larsson: More development than most, both in the color and on the nose; quite spicy, with vanilla, nuts, and ripe stone fruit; no evident oak; feels like a natural/low-intervention style. Quite bold on the palate, with high ripeness and alcohol, and a slight tannic sensation; well rounded, with a certain complexity and quite lush, persistent aftertaste. 85
Jancis Robinson: Slightly dull pale gold. Smoky, rather reductive nose (unusual in South Africa?) and very broad, polished texture. The Viognier, in particular, makes its heady, round presence felt. Not the most racy or appetizing wine but a very creditable rendition of these Northern Rhône white-wine grapes. A little bit of alcohol on the end. Big at first but rather watery on the finish. Drink 2014–15. 88
