Andrew Jefford: Saturated dark black-red. Sweet, warm fruits, poised and fresh: the simple, artless yet classical appeal of the vintage perfectly summarized. Fresh, lively, vivid, and deep, with ample ripeness and impressive warmth and concentration, though texturally it is a lighter wine than some of its peers. Fruit of this quality just has to last well; there is extract behind, and length propelling it forward. An undoubted success. 2018–28. 92

Michael Schuster: Closed, tight, minerally nose; rich mediumfull wine, fresh in acidity, finely firm in tannin; fine-textured, ripe, cedary St-Julien, long and gentle and graceful to taste, sweet-cored, refined, complex, but its tannins indicating a wait of at least 6–8 years. Excellent Gruaud. 2023–40. 93
