BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Mid ruby/purple. Hint of brick red. Peppery, spicy, Rhône-like red. Really good. Not overalcoholic; spice and sweet vanilla oak; good acidity and freshness and length. Could be a St-Joseph. 17

Alex Hunt: Roasted character on the nose, some vegetable notes but no excessive evolution. Very pronounced alcohol on the palate, and a dry, dusty quality. This is quite hard-going. 12.5

Anthony Rose: Deep-colored and cassis-scented, with a strong peppery quality suggesting Syrah (?) more than anything else. Firm, extracted, tannic backbone and good acidity, with a richly concentrated and savory palate that’s spicy and peppery at the same time. The tannins are ever so slightly chunky and dry, but overall this is an interesting and satisfying red that needs food. 16
