Tim Atkin: Dark purple. Slight hint of development at the rim. Big, oaky, alcoholic nose. Palate verging on the jammy and overripe but just manages to hold itself together. Sweetish, raspberry fruit, soft tannins, but oak too much in evidence on the finish. Commercial, but not particularly complex. 13.5

Alex Hunt: Minty berry aromas with a layer of creamy vanilla oak—more overtly New World than some here. Bright acidity, heaps of fruit, with a raisiny, fruitcakey edge; extremely soft tannins. There is plenty to enjoy here but not a lot of finesse. 13

Anthony Rose: Vivid young ruby hue. Stylish, almost pungent smoky chocolate and vanilla aromas; good, vibrant cassis-fruit flavors, with appealing richness framed by substantial smoky, vanilla-laden oak. Perhaps a tad hefty, with chewy tannins and juicy fresh acidity. Well crafted, with firm backbone, and needing time. 14 .5
