Jesús Barquín: Golden yellow. Freshly poured, it boasts a delicately flowery nose with seductive rosewood aromas that remind me very vividly of rosary beads I used to smell in my childhood (as the wine warms up these notes disappear, though). It is not quite as elegant on the palate, but nor does it disappoint, being both expressive and structured. It is perhaps not quite as harmonious as it could be, but it might well integrate with further bottle age. In the end its aromas may be a tad overpowering. So, perhaps it is a wine of which to drink a glass or two, but it might seem slightly saturating beyond that. 86
Andrew Jefford: Gold in color. Exuberant, classical aromas: the broad timber-framed house with the plain, lime-washed walls. Lacks intricacy but very gratifying to smell nonetheless. On the palate this is a well-crafted, complete, and satisfying wine, with both freshness and breadth of flavor, and as food-friendly as you like. Supremely effective white Rioja. 88
Richard Mayson: Deep straw in color; an unusual, fully mature aroma for a wine of this age, bruised fruit on the nose and palate, with a rich, savory undertone toward the finish. Not unattractive now, but I am not sure that this wine is going anywhere. Perhaps it’s not meant to! 80
