Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep. Floral fragrant. Plummy, round, and mouth-filling, a bit out of balance now but with the constituents to come together very well. Has concentration and length. 16.5
Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny rim. Clean, restrained nose, with smoked red meat, toasted hazelnuts, rosewater, and hints of Mediterranean herbs. Clean, full body, with huge tannins yet with sweet prune fruit and a long, mineral finish. Another great, classic Barolo. 18.5
Andrew Jefford: Clear garnet red. Lovely simmer of warm red fruits here, with a graceful milky sheen above. A touch of fine leather. Very classical; very good. Light, graceful, open, articulate but tenacious on the palate: completely arresting Barolo of supreme classicism. A wonderful wine in which no iota of its personality is wrong or out of place. Sip it, and it’s smooth; yet let it settle in the mouth, and you will see its density and persistence. Aromatic notes qualify almost all of its sensual personality. Everything is fine drawn here, and graceful, and elegant; such admirable restraint! You just know it will drink supremely well. Yet the profundity of the place is everywhere evident. Not the most detailed or intricate or concentrated wine in the tasting, yet almost faultless nonetheless if you are after stylistic grace. 18
