Nicolas Belfrage: Quite deep but with an oranging on the rim considerably more apparent than elsewhere. Traditional, intriguing nose of mature fruit and herb/spice, plus lanolin. Pruney in a positive way. Ripe and rich and very concentrated in the mouth, it has all the character of beautifully ripe Sangiovese, excellent width and depth as it travels through the mouth. Serious Brunello well worthy of the “Riserva” ticket. Will drink now for 20 years. 96
Stephen Brook: Deep red. Sweet, slightly confected nose but has some charm and immediacy. Soft attack, which is a bit worrying, though there is ample underlying tannin. The fruit may be a touch overripe, because this lacks a little energy and pep. Indeed, it seems quite forward for a Riserva. Still, there’s enough tannin and acidity to give some structure, though it remains underwhelming. Moderate length. 86
Andrew Jefford: Dark, deep red. Harmonious and forthcoming red-fruit scents, with lots of complexing leather, jamón fat, undergrowth, and humus scents. Perhaps some would find it a little wild, but I love what’s on offer here. Deep, plunging, and vivacious palate, with lots of energy and allusiveness. It doesn’t quite have the tautness, density, and extractive force of the very best in this Riserva flight, but this is a commanding red wine by any measure, and very true to the ideals of its terroir. Grand wine. 90
