Chateau D'Aydie Famille Laplace Pacherenc du Vic Bilh Moelleux Pacherenc du Vic Bilh 2021 (12.50% ABV) – 87.7
SB | The nose, like the color, is rather murky, and lacks the precision and tension one looks for here. Gently sweet, this is pleasant if slightly soupy. There is enough acidity to refresh the wine, but I want more clarity and brightness, even though this is not a Jurançon but its cousin. A demi-sec style, it falls between stools. Moderate length. 86
AJ | Full gold, though clear and bright. Lots of developed Manseng notes here, and exuberantly so: a kind of mango fest, a mango riot. Mangissimo. A great fun nose. Apricot and a bit of ground-almond fattiness behind. Lots of wallop and richness. Tangy, sweet, and full on the palate, with lashings of straightforward enjoyment. Super, fruit-saturated acidity, so again lots of Manseng, I expect. It's not concentrated or high-focus, and I wouldn't store it for long, but just now it's a lovely drink. 89
SR | Golden in color, this Pacherenc offers a clear, aromatic, very elegant, slightly oaky, nicely bitter bouquet of mandarins and veggies. Sweet but elegant and fresh, with appetizing lemon notes, this is a juicy and savory, densely textured and refreshingly bitter Pacherenc, which should be matched with pâtés and cheeses rather than with desserts. 88
