SB | Quite deep in color, and it shows a hint of oxidation on the nose. The attack is surprisingly soft for Pacherenc, and the palate is lackluster, with a very slight oxidative character. I suspect this is past its best. Medium length. 80
AJ | Quite a full gold here. A relatively oxidative style, but nuttily enjoyable (walnuts). Generalized autumn fruits behind. A warm Foehn wind through the vines. If you're not tasting too technically, there is much to enjoy here. Rich, mellow, buttery, truffley, allusive, and articulate: soft, open, and great fun. I definitely wouldn't keep this friendly, chatty old white wine much longer, but it is very enjoyable just now. Much fuller and richer and more expressive than almost all of its dry Pacherenc peers, but this is a very "graduated" appellation and you don't get the same dry/sweet cut-off that you get in Jurançon. 90
SR | This 2018 Pacherenc displays a strong yellow-golden color followed by very intense and aromatic yet elegant and fleshy fruit intertwined with nougat and mandarin aromas. Full-bodied, rich, and intense, this is a quite tannic and oaky Pacherenc, which is a little too ambitious for my personal taste and less true to its terroir than some others. The finish is biting and dry and rather short, but it is at least fresh. 86
