SR | The wine opens with ripe and concentrated Riesling fruit on a quite rich but elegant nose, which represents a sunnier vintage than 2021 really was (or possibly a warmer exposition). Also on the palate, the wine is quite rich and endowed with fine tannins, which structure this full-bodied and mouth-filling Schlossberg, whose finish reveals a well-sustained salinity. This is a quite powerful and dense Schlossberg Riesling, not one with great finesse but one that certainly packs a punch. 92
AJ | Pale, bright, steel-gold. A rather reserved nose at this stage, though what is there is enticing: whispering orchard fruits, some orange, too, and freesia flowers. But you do have to rummage about—it doesn't come storming out of the glass. Something in there reminds me of bonbon/boiled sweetie, too. Lots of vivid yet fresh flavors on the palate; indeed, almost powerful fruits. Perhaps the power in the mouth was holding back the aromatic expression in some way? Strong and vinous after you've swallowed, though those sinewy fruits (apple, lemon, blood orange) fade only slowly. Impressive on the palate, and with a finer aromatic profile, this would be comfortably into the 90s. 89
AR | Mid-lemon to gold in color, the aromas of this Riesling are initially a tad diffuse, with just a background hint of lime peel. A gentle spritz on the tongue brings a degree of freshness, while the citrusy fruit itself, like the aromas, is pleasantly ripe and full-bodied, pineappley, demonstrating a certain phenolic grip on the finish, and showing the need for accompanying food just to soften down that dry, grippy feel. 91
