Chateau Trotte Vieille Saint-Emilion Bordeaux France 2019 (15% ABV) — 93.5
SF | Dark of hue with an unusual almost savoury nose; soy; seaweed; maybe a slightly oxidised sample? Having said that, air seems to do it some good, so maybe not oxidised at all . Sui generis. Let' s try another bottle! A yes, cleaner., purer and with more definition. I almost miss the soy element, but not quite. Much stronger fruit character and with a strong focused attack as one has come to expect from Trottevielle..well-placed vineyards and a new winery, one to watch for sure. The sweet savoury interplay is deftly manipulated and the tannins are precise and elegant. Far more agreeable second time around; one to watch... 92
MS | Dense and closed to smell; full, fresh to lively, firmly tannic; a fine, sweet, transparent flavour with a real delicacy and finesse within a firm but fine textured tannin, beautifully textured, and much less marked by oak dryness than it has often been; long and pure and tenacious across the palate and with excellent fruit fragrant length to finish. A most successful Trotte Vieille, class, complexity, completeness and restraint. A long term, harmonious beauty. Drink Dates: 2035 - 2055+. 95
