SF | Rich gold, almost luminous, its colour atypical today and either signalling a huge success or a desperate attempt to dissimulate. Or neither. As it turns out, one is torn between these options, although there is still residual suspicion of surmaturite and perhaps waiting just a bit too long, as the storm clouds gather. This is hypothetical, however. The evidence in the glass points to late season; there is an apply, faintly oxidative note here, botrytis not captured completely , despite the rich seductive colour. Autumnal therefore and slightly melancholic....one is left to speculate as to what might have been... 87
AJ | Deeply coloured: a burnished gold. Riotously fruity and autumnal, rather than creamy-sweet: apple, even crab apple, with pear and quince, peach and plum, and lots of hedgerow tang. A clear contrast to its peers, but articulate and engaging, though some may wonder about oxidation (is it lo or no sulphur?). The palate is exactly as the nose foretold. Very good, poised, balanced and exciting wine in an almost naturalista style for Barsac.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2032. 92
