SF | Deep pigmentation, near opaque at the core; saddle leather and wood-infused leather ( blazing saddles!) infuse the palate; then hints of mint, juniper and black tea. The palate is playful; a core of dark fruit, a whimsical scherzo riffing on the high tones and flavours of marshmallow and violet confectionary; the tannins are just a little rustic and one wonders if the ensemble is maybe at or even past it peak. AJ | Dark, saturated opaque black-red. Plenty of oak here gives the wine a menthol and pine resin aromatic character. Some might like but it is a touch monotone A rather stewy and overwooded palate, alas. Very unlovely profile that you would need lots of strong food to redeem. Ample bitter notes here to match the high acidity. There is, though, density of flavour that lifts this wine a little way above the most trivial peers.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2026. 87
RM | Very deep, opaque, youthful colour; open, quite attractive dusty-floral aromas with some intensity and concentration as well as restraint; rich and supple in the mouth with firm, ripe spicy bitter-sweet cherry fruit and a long fruit-driven finish.
