SF | Russet with a touch of amber at the rim. A veritable gemstone, delicate and tiring a little for all that. Charcuteire and tobacco, ceps and soy; the palate is as desiccated and venerable as the page of an ancient manuscript, best contemplated from afar, maybe, with what might have been essayed rather than what is.... faded grandeur does not lack for grandeur, enfin, 91
AJ | Dark black-red, with some evident bricking at the meniscus BOTTLE 1: I'm afraid that for me this is tca-affected ... there is another bottle so we will take a look. BOTTLE 2|: this one has quite bad bottle-stink issues. Unattractive to smell also. Varnishy. On the palate, quite a thin wine despite its appearance (these older Daos can look younger than they taste). Slender and evanscent now, with acidity to the fore.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2025. 84
RM | Still deep at the centre with a broad browning rim; rather wonderful earthy-soily aromas, certainly retaining character after 44 years; haunting flavours, earthy, drying out but retaining a streak of acidity all the way through to the finish. Classic mature Dao!Drink Dates: 2024 - 2035. 92
