AJ | Dark black-red, and very nearly opaque at its core. Soft, rounded, attractive, harmonious and accessible, with some sweet savoury notes behind the soft cherry and plum. The wine grows more complex with time in the glass. There's good density and depth, here, with more bass notes than some of its commune peers; impressive tannin support. The balance and ripeness is a little fresher than some, by contrast, but well within the vintage parameters. Given the depth and density, this might be a good under-the-radar choice if you enjoy the vintage style. Drink Dates: 2027 - 2035. 88
SF | A bold saturated colour, shadowy and saturnine. The nose is a little high toned, however, with bright ripe red fruti to the fore, the creamy legacy of the oak evidenced but far from obtrusive. A pleasing weave of tannin and, once again, an agreable lift on the finish. The vineyard husbandry proves itself to be very important in damp years such as these. Drink Dates: 2028 - 2043. 91
