BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Dense, still youthful color. Oxidation and volatility and high alcohol. Lashings of oak. A wine aimed at the American market... Really nasty. Pruney. Over-the-top. Nothing to do with Rioja as I understand and love it. Modern. 5

Jesús Barquín: Very deep cherry, overripe, with a volatile note, heavy. Two bottles are opened, both with identically disappointing conclusions. Modern. 12

Marcel Orford-Williams: Volatile. Second bottle is better. Still a whiff of volatility. Evolved, alcoholic. Dry finish and rather common. The finish is long, though. 12
