Alison Buchanan: Pale yellow gold in color, this offers a rather unusual rubbery nose with some stewed fruit. There is a real smoky character here too – pure flint – complimenting orchard fruit compote and some spice. It’s a bit of a jellyfish, though. The ingredients may well be there but they are diffuse and floppy, somewhat devoid of focus. 14

Alex Hunt: Ripeness here has made everything a bit flat. Acid is low, alcohol noticeable; fruit and vigor seem to be lacking, replaced by an earthy, licorice flavor. 12

Andrew Jefford: Pale water–gold. Sweet, slightly strange aromas: bracken and Virginia tobacco. Touch of vetiver. Not typical but I like it. Intense but relatively slender palate; slightly pinched at the finish. I am perhaps being a little generous with this wine, but it does have a lot of unusual appeal. Lacks width and depth, though. 13.5
