Alison Buchanan: Rich yellow gold. We have wandered off–piste again in terms if style. This is incredibly rich, glycerol clinging to the glass. The nose presents wet wool, polish, stewed orchard fruit and toasted brioche. The palate reflects this adding layers of vanilla cream, all set within a mineral backdrop – well made if somewhat unconventional. 16.5
Alex Hunt: Very peachy on the nose, tending towards a Chenin style. Lovely fruit on entry, and then tightens up quite quickly. Perhaps some bottle age would help here, as if it really were a chalky, peachy Vouvray. Promising depth and length. 15
Andrew Jefford: A fuller gold than most. Piling in on the vegetal front. Not quite oniony; complex; difficult to summarize, with elements of sweet charm but other notes which are heavy, almost rotty (but – phew! – not quite). Not an unqualified success, but this is true to its place; it is diverting, intriguing and provoking; and you want to sip. Interesting, complex palate. It is very well–structured and vinous, with lots of both ripe acidity and aromatic power. Long finish, full of fronds and tendrils, with real weight and extract. You are left almost chewing afterwards. This is very good. 17
