Nicolas Belfrage: Color code 7; bright brownish-reddish tinge. Toffee apple and banana. Another very thick, viscous wine, with, this time, a better acidity, which holds the flavor in the mouth a bit longer. Dried fig juice and honey, with some herbal character. 17
Michael Edwards: Mid-amber. A noticeably sweet style. Flavor, yes, but lacking complexity and variegated flavors. 14
Jancis Robinson: Brownish rosy tawny. Rancio, nervy, exciting nose. Then very sweet on palate entry but exciting lift and acidity on the palate. Well done! This wine manages to combine the sweetness of the sweeter examples with the tension of the nervier ones. Still very clean and alive. Great balance. Splits the difference between being merely very sweet and being excitingly tangy. Very unctuous and sweet. Rose petals and a hint of greenness. Toasty, with lots of unctuousness. Racy. Drink 2006–20. 18.5
Franco Ziliani: Ruby-amber color, with great light and energy. A very complex and ripe nose, with great intensity and richness but also a surprising earthy, mineral character: aromatic herbs, autumn leaves, dried grapes, rhubarb, licorice. Absolutely huge, super-rich on the palate, with masses and masses of dried fruit and all the warmth of the Tuscan sun. The wine shows a fantastic balance and is absolutely delicious and creamy on the palate. Never-ending finish. 17.5
