Nicolas Belfrage: Medium depth, youthful. A little reserved on the nose, clean and fruity but quiet. Some astringency on palate, acid a bit aggressive, tannins okay; no bitterness but not a lot of sweetness either, though good typicity. A certain hardness. Needs two to three years more in bottle. Medium length. 14
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to thin tawny rim. Closed, touch reduced nose with morello cherries and prunes and hints of smoked meat. Soft, balanced palate, with medium body and small-red-fruit character. A good wine that needed some air to come alive. 16
Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Voluptuous black-fruit nose. Has fine weight of fruit but doesn’t smell like pure Sangiovese. Rich and broad but also rather flat, suggesting a late picking, with some loss of acidity. There is some bite on the finish but not enough to lift the wine as a whole. Quite long, with a chocolaty, oaky finish. 15
