Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny. Open, nuts and truffles nose, with aromatic herbs, crushed stones, chalk and fresh red meat undertones.Medium to full body, clean, mineral, layered, red-fruit palate, with perfect tannins, fresh-orange acidity, and a long, mineral finish. 96

Andrew Jefford: Deep, dark, clear black-red. Earthy, warm, glowing: warm embers and smouldering logs over ripe fruit. Very attractive. I give it five minutes and the aromas have grown still more subtle and compelling during that time. Dense, sweet, warm, even “ultra-ripe” in the context of the vintage, but there is a huge amount there, the tannins do their usual job of resolution of fruit, it is totally commanding in terms of its dimensions and its force. A very fine wine by any measure. Absolute wealth, depth, and satisfaction. Grand wine, and no one will ever be disappointed by this purchase. 95

Michael Palij: An egregious example of a Nebbiolo from Serralunga in a hot vintage, where site specificity and terroir has been sacrificed at the altar of phenolic maturity. The nose is pronounced with notes of fig, date, and dark chocolate, but the palate is dominated by aggressive, spiky tannins. 87
