Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny. A touch closed on the nose, slightly earthy and vegetal, yet ripe and quite complex. Medium to full body, layered red and black fruits, mineral, and touch of green on the finish. 89
Andrew Jefford: Deep, clear red. A dry, sandy warmth with some ripe plum fruit. Satisfying rather than sublime. This is only the second wine in our tasting, but you can already sense there is a drama about the 2017s; another arresting, concentrated palate where surprising acidity levels face off with brisk tannins. The only thing that’s missing is a kind of sweet-fruited wealth in between the two; the fruit is rather sheer—though that supports the overall impression of drama. 89
Michael Palij: A pronounced nose, with cranberry, red currant, hay, vanilla, sandalwood, and coffee. The palate suggests a subtle oak influence, with dusty tannins around a mid-palate core with generous fruit providing breadth on the mid-palate. 93
