Andrew Jefford | Impressively deep in color. Black-purple, with a lingering opacity. Warmth and ripeness here—and ample though not obtrusive oak. Some sweet leafiness, too: very attractive. Generous on the palate, too, though less refined than the best of its peers, with both fruit and vegetal freshness: blackcurrant and licorice stick, with some moist vanilla pod. Welcome tannins. Very friendly Margaux, which makes an effort to charm and entertain. | 89
Michael Schuster | Still quite closed to smell, with a little more clean earth than fruit at the moment; medium-full, fresh to firm in acidity, moderately tannic. A touch oak-dry in texture (as with its sister property, Pouget) framing the gentle Margaux fruit. Nice enough, but modest in length and scope for its class, it just lacks a bit of generosity, even in the vintage, for its third- growth status. Ideally wait two to three years: 2024–30+. | 89
