BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | This wine showed superbly at Château La Lagune, with the intensity and the candied-fruit notes of a great Sauternes in a great year, and remarkable wood integration. On two other occasions, it was a bit more discreet but remained racy and subtle. | 17

Michael Schuster | Orangey gold; intense citrus-zest and noble-rot spice on the nose; concentrated, vigorous wine, intensely sweet, with a marked citrus vitality, a gentle rather than a marked complexity, and perhaps lacking a little follow-through on the finish after the impressive up-front impressions. But there is an overall racy resonance to this: long and fine and delicious. | 17.5
