BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford | Saturated deep black-red. Very sweet, almost toffeed and mentholated on the nose, with little fresh fruit. Truffled and rich, though, for those who like this style. Intense, deep, and vividly, drivingly fruity, with ample tannins. Another wine which, like many of its St-Emilion peers, is a bit stylistically jostled just now, all elbows and knees. The fruit is ripe (perhaps just a little too ripe, so you get a combination of the flavors of raisins combined with almost startling acidity), yet the vigor of the year is there, and it has good qualities. | 87

Michael Schuster | Overall quite closed for the moment, but ripe, gently earthy, black-cherry fruit to smell; medium-full, fresh in acidity, finely dry in tannin. A fine, fragrant, sweet flavor, which is pinched and shortened a bit by its new-wood dry texture; delicate and refined, but prevented from really expressing its beautiful heart by its wood frame. Very nice, if unlikely ever to be really harmonious. 2025–35+. | 89
