Andrew Jefford | Dark, saturated red-black and still opaque. Complex and fine, with subtly judged ripeness: sun-warmed plums, earth, warm gravels, fresh meat. A super nose, and nothing obtrusive here (still less anything unripe or edge-ripe). Some spices and vanilla complexity, too. Almost brandied fruits; glowing. The wine is a little less subtle and fine-grained on the palate than the excellent aromatic profile suggested it would be, but it is still very satisfying, with a great shoulderful of ripe, earthy fruits filled with the inner energy that is the legacy of this vintage. Moderate to good concentration and grain here; hugely enjoyable fruit flesh; and the fruits have (thanks to the propitious vineyard site) class, finesse, and poise. An inspiring mouthful. | 92
Michael Schuster | An attractive, sweet, ripe, floral fruit to smell; medium-full, fresh, and finely tannic; an abundance of ripe red fruit, tasty, fleshy, and chewy at once, dense for Gazin, distinctive, rewarding Pomerol. Ready to drink soonish. 2022–32+. | 90
