Michael Edwards: A wine that is intended to show the winemaker’s prowess rather than terroir fidelity. Essentially, this is the best and most complex barrels from the cru. As you’d expect, it’s all tightly wound and unexpressive at the moment, but the latent power and vinosity is tucked inside, and everything smells healthy and ripe, the oak element well married with the fruit. Difficult to score so young a wine. More to come from 2016, but this is already certainly 17.5+
