Nicolas Belfrage: Relatively light with garnet reflections. Beginnings of a floral aromatic, also soft fruit and herb. Has charm on the nose. The palate is relatively incomplete, with sharpish acidity and understated fruit, but aromas remain attractive, and one guesses that the palate will catch up with the nose in time. Not yet ready; give it 3 years. Should develop into a fine bottle after 10+ years. 16.5
Andrew Jefford: Clear, light garnet in present company; less color-depth than most of its peers. Very attractive aromatically: old roses, suede, calfskin, a whiff of boot-blacking, a hint of library dust. Well into the secondary spectrum, in other words, but there just aren’t many wine scents that can evoke scents associated with human interactions with time to this extent. On the palate, this is a lighter wine than some; the tannins almost have a crispness to them; once again, its range of allusions are well into their evolutionary trajectory, and this is not a wine you will have to wait for. Compared to the best, though, this lacks some wealth and amplitude. Nonetheless, good Barolo. 14.5
Franco Ziliani: Very light ruby Nebbiolo color. The aromas are fresh and elegant, very characteristic of the Barolo style: rose, chocolate, raspberries, some black licorice and leather, cinnamon, rosemary, underbrush... Very young and appealing. On the palate it shows a good and balanced structure, ripe and silky tannins, fresh and richly savory. Very young and good now, but I think it will be better in five years. 17
