Simon Field | finely polished old Spanish gold; then an attractive nose, exotic and chalky; hazelnut, vanillin, and hints of apple turnover. The palate is a little old-fashioned, broad-brushed, and with a few rough edges, but in terms of concentration and the acidic infrastructure, this is a pleasing and ultimately satisfying exposition from a tricky vintage. | 90
Andrew Jefford | This is deeply colored already: a full butterscotch gold. Lush, tangy, rich, and generous to smell, with butter, flowers, spring leaves, lemon, and pineapple all shimmering from the glass in straightforward guise. Generous and artless. That’s what you’ll find on the palate, too: huge, generous, unbridled sweetness, with some green leaf and plant sap for balance alongside the soft lemon and pineapple. There are wines of more finesse and gathered complexity than this, for sure, but it is as generous as any. I wouldn’t wait too long, but tuck in while everything is firing on all cylinders. | 90
