Andrew Jefford | Dark saturated purple-red, and still opaque. Rich black-cherry and plum fruit, with lots of truffled richness. Exuberant for the vintage. Deep and concentrated, with the same ripe, cherry-plum fruits that were evident on the palate allied to generous tannins and (despite the ripeness) vivid acidity. Ample coffee-cream oak makes for a showy reading from this 2017 Margaux, but there is much to enjoy, and a few years’ aging in this instance may pay dividends and eventually bring a higher score. | 89
Michael Schuster | Ripely sweet, slightly oaky nose; medium-full, fresh, slightly dry in tannin texture. A nice juicy fruit at the heart of the wine here, with both length and finesse of flavor, but just a bit “dried” by its wood sojourn, as so often—for my palate, anyway. Very good wine, in a slightly “solid” expression of the commune, which will always be a bit tannin-dry, if you are sensitive to that. Now to 2035+. | 91
