Jesús Barquín: A hint of lees on the nose, animal notes, an unwelcome shade of green. Blurry in general. The palate is intense and concentrated; bacon, difficult tannins, more green notes to finish. 13
Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep. Attractive cherry-herbal nose. Sweet cherry fruit cut by firm acidity, not too tannic, quite a “drinking” Amarone. The trouble with Amarone is that it is big anyway—no escaping that—so it might as well be very big. This is of medium character; well made, but so what? 14
Andrew Jefford: Dark, saturated black-red. Meaty, fresh, earthy, but with some black-cherry clinging to the aromatic bandwagon: pretty classical mid-life Amarone. Vivid, mouth-filling; arresting flavor profile. Its virtues are its concentration, extractive force, and innate drama; its failings are a slight mid-palate fleshlessness and a finishing dryness and austerity. Nonetheless, I feel this is a good to very good wine that won’t disappoint fans of the style. 14.5
