Jesús Barquín: Spicy nose with a hint of VA; similar palate. Somewhat unbalanced. 11
Nicolas Belfrage: Deep, almost opaque. Cherry essence poking through on nose. Quite sturdy on palate, firm tannins, Porty sweetness balanced by touch of bitter; good length. Could drink now but better in three years. Slightly on the austere side, but none the worse for that. 15.5
Andrew Jefford: Midnight black in color. Very lush, super-ripe aromas, with lots of splashy fruit; perhaps living a little dangerously for the long haul, though. The palate has a similar profile. In many ways, it is excellent: exuberant, prolifically grippy, intense, energetic, ripe, saturated with almost tarry depths. It’s a wine with some of the broadest shoulders and the amplest musculature in the tasting, yet I remain unsure as to whether it has the purity and refinement to age well in the long run. Anyway, the score is for now: Fasten your seatbelt as you pull the cork. 16
