Jesús Barquín: Slightly less deep cherry than average in the tasting. Defined Grenache character, with tons of fruit and natural funky hints; very seductive. Intense and concentrated palate, with earthy tannins that melt harmoniously. A wine of character, with things to say. 17
Alex Hunt: A pale color in this context—very much red, not black—and a distinctively aromatic lavender note dominating the nose. A wilder, more Mediterranean, less glossy take on the DO. The palate is balanced, slightly grippy, slightly rustic, not too complicated, but also betrays some tired fruit at the end. The finish is sadly less moreish than the nose. 15
Andrew Jefford: Clearing red-black. Raisiny, stewy, jammy: a muddle, and slightly dangerous to boot. Not a wine to keep. On the palate, as the nose. There are tannins to lend it a little force and persistence, but the fruit lacks all poise and focus, and the overall effect is slurry-like, alas. 9
