Simon Field | Broader of structure than some, more oxidative of inclination, yet holding its own with more savory notes to the fore—gum cistus, graphite, and even a hint of gunpowder. The substrata of dark fruit reassuring and consistently gratifying. Dark and somewhat devious. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Clear, bright red; translucent. Sweet and warm; the time in bottle seems to have brought a swift harmony. Attractive but rather featureless. It’s hard to pick out individual allusions here, though the overall effect is enticing. At first, anyway; with time there is some grass and silage. Smooth, light, and elegant on the palate, despite the palpable tannins; there is some juicy supportive acidity. Delicious, now mature Priorat in lighter (higher-altitude?) style. Graceful drinking and with non-fruited complexity from the stony milieu. An excellent effort in this lighter style, which I would love to sit down with at dinner tonight. Only the lack of aromatic finesse holds it back from a top score. | 89
David Williams | Exquisite balance of ripe, slightly developed fruit, with substantial tannin and that underlying Priorat mineral quality. (A skeptic writes, You can really feel it here!) So much sustenance here, a feeling of interplay and depth, light and shade. Very impressive. | 91
