BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve | Lots of sap and color, nose lacks a bit of air and presents some reductive notes; mid-palate is rich with firm tannins. The wine is less complete at the stage than the other Léovilles, at least the two samples tasted. | 16.5

Michael Schuster | Red fruit and light oak vanilla to smell; firmly tannic structure on a fresh, medium-full wine; a pure, gently ripe red-fruit flavor of modest complexity for the cru, but nicely sustained across the palate and with good fruit persistence on the finish. Lacks a bit of density and scope, but good nonetheless. One of the more tannic St-Juliens, which will probably need the best part of a decade to mellow. 2022–30. | 16.5
