Simon Field | A little more fade on the rim here, garnet going on weathered Victorian brick. Still impenetrable at the core. Nose is of beefstock, consommé, hothouse plants, and only then, with the rigors of aeration, something approaching an ode to autumn. The primary fruit has also evacuated the main structure, and although the leafy, dreamy wild strawberry notes are not entirely unattractive, the impression is of a road that heads downhill, the skies overhead already a touch murky. | 89
Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark, though now no longer opaque black-red. Slightly rough-and-ready aromas, without a lot of fruited precision though evident oak. This is what you get on the palate: A forceful but rather uncharming wine, though perfectly drinkable, especially with food. | 83
Anthony Rose | Quite evolved in color, this is also evolved in aroma and the fruit, which is pleasantly juicy in cherry vein. Held together by quite a structure of chewy dry tannins, all of which suggests it might have reached its peak. | 85
