BUY THE WINE

Michel Bettane: Big color, spicy nose, very tobacco-like tannins, dense, tight body, noble finish, no compromise. Large scale for Margaux and long aging potential. 17

Thierry Desseauve: Colorful, spicy and toasty nose, elegant body, very natural, perfect finish, persistent. Charm and elegance. 17.5

Michael Schuster: Ripe fruit and oak cedar on the nose; nicely enough balanced in a rather oaky style, where the new-oak dryness impinges somewhat on the soft, sweet, ripe Margaux fruit. Nice length of flavor, nice length of aftertaste, too—just wish the texture were less “oak-dry.” Good wine: stylish and refined, could be even more harmonious with a bit less oak input. 2019–30+. 16
