Andrew Jefford | Deep black-red, though less purple than for many of its St-Julien peers. Ample wood here, though all of a piece with the fruits: welcoming and solid. A hint of hop bine adds a little complexity. Sound, full, solid, workmanlike, though less finesse than the best of its commune peers, and less purity of fruit, too. A slightly sinewy finish. Lots to enjoy and a doughty meal- time 2017 St-Julien, though not a head-turner at this stage. | 88
Michael Schuster | A nose marked by cedary oak; medium-full, brisk in acidity, finely firm in tannin; brightly flavory, if a bit chewy for St-Julien and, for the moment, lacking in charm. This has both depth and length of flavor, so it will likely come round given time, but it’s certainly a bit forbidding just now. 2027–37+. | 89
