Stephen Brook | This is reticent on the nose but shows a light waxy sheen and perhaps a touch of oak. It’s very broad and succulent, and there’s a hint of flab that’s overridden by the weighty fruit. The alcohol is just about in check, and the finish is solid and surprisingly mineral, if hardly a display of fireworks. | 89

Simon Field | Full color, almost ocher; mealy, lapidary... aromatics of petrichor, soft tobacco, incense, and quince; intimations of unobtrusive oak and soap stone. The palate engages us by holding in check any intimations of excess and adding deft rococo decoration; spice, melted butter, soft stone fruit. A minstrel’s gallery of measured performance, well rehearsed and added to in the telling. | 91

Andrew Jefford | Bright mid-gold. Evident oak here, which works well with the fruit; but I feel the fruit is struggling to lift itself beyond the oak. It’s a difficult judgment call in St-Péray... But I’m carping after all; this is an attractive and aromatically subtle and seductive white wine. Rich, full, and oaky on the palate, too. But the wine is still luscious and enjoyable. Great raw material, for sure. Will the oak settle down? If so, this could be a very good bottle. But for now, the oak is overdominant. | 88
