Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: The second wine is nothing special, but the grand vin delivers all the fullness and class we would expect. The tannins are perfectly judged (a credit to expert extraction in an area where the tannins can often be quite harsh), and the style is impeccably classical. 18
Michael Schuster: A remarkable mineral impression behind the ripe blackberry/blueberry fruit on the nose; effortlessly balanced, fresh, concentrated, and particularly finely tannic; sweet-cored, long, and pure in mineral-infused fruit; linear, elegant, gracefully complex wine, a lovely combination of ripe fruit and mineral aromatic generosity, with great length of aftertaste. Absolutely harmonious, complete, restrained, refreshing claret of intensity and scope, but without any impression of force or strength. Superb Montrose. 2020–40+. 17.5/18.5
