Andrew Jefford | Dark, dense black-red. There’s typical Montrose concentration and force here, and impressive levels of finesse and aromatic complexity already given the wine’s relative youth: resonant and refined. In addition to the black fruits, look out for citrus, pollen, a hint of woodsmoke and forest mushroom. Autumnal loveliness. Very deep and grand on the palate, even though, like most of its second-wine peers, it is majoring on fruits and the palpable tannic structure is relatively light. These fruits have grand inner complexity from this magnificent terroir. A second wine of effortless authority, but without the sometimes almost offputting cragginess that Montrose and the Dame can exhibit in lesser vintages. | 91
Michael Schuster | fine, light, blackcurrant Cabernet to smell; medium-full, fresh in acidity, firm but fine-grained in tannin; crisply ripe in flavor, bright and juicy, tautly framed, long and particularly subtle for a second wine, and long in aftertaste, too. A particularly classy second wine. 2024–36+. | 91
