BUY THE WINE

Andrew Jefford | Dark, saturated black-red, with a purple rim. Quite a fat and farmy scent, lacking some aromatic precision and the diagnostic freshness of the vintage. Appetizing nonetheless with its broader style of fruit, and in fact with air that farminess blows away, so it was a reduction effect. Concentrated, rather four-square wine; little finesse or polish, but a very solid core of fruit. There is some tannin in evidence here and the fruits are less lean than for many of its peers. | 89

Michael Schuster | Light blackcurrant and clear new oak on the nose; medium-full, fresh to crisp in acidity, moderately tannic; crisply ripe fruit still rather marked in texture by its fine, dry new wood tannin, and with a moderate finish a little pinched by its oak. Not bad, but with the winemaking not really kind to the fruit. Needs time. 2023–33+. | 88
