Andrew Jefford | Deep, dark black-red, though no longer opaque at the core (as opposed, for example, to nearby Clos Fourtet). Gorgeously lifted, billowing, blossom-charged cherry fruits lift from the wine—Hokusai-like, if you like. Wonderfully fresh and engaging floral fruits, and absolutely locked on to the vintage ideal here. Aromatics of great finesse and charm. On the palate, this is a light, graceful and aerial Canon which soars like a swallow, packed with cherry-apple fruit and barely weighted with tannins at all (though the print of those tannins are nonetheless palpable in some of the graphite notes in the wine’s flavor). It’s yet another Burgundy-styled Right Bank wine from this remarkable vintage, and its fruit intensity will carry it for a decade and a half at least. | 93
Michael Schuster | Restrained and oak-cedary to smell; full-bodied, firmly tannic; rich, ripe, generous wine, alcohol-warm, but long and mouthcoating to taste, full of both sweet fruit and fruit fragrance, complex and close-grained within the overall power and with lovely length of aftertaste. Very fine in its powerful style. Long-term, finesse and power combined. 2030–50+. | 93+
