Michael Schuster | Freshly ripe to smell, with a marked Merlot plumminess, contained by the Cabernets and a suggestion of Graves gravel; medium-full, fresh in acidity, lightly to moderately tannic; a restrained Graves character here, freshly ripe, slightly dry-textured from the new-wood tannin, but a ripe red- and black-berry flavor, gently gravelly in aroma, with some finesse across the palate, and good light length. This is very nice, easy to drink, flavorsome, gently classy Graves. A modern expression of “classic” claret, “beverage” pleasing, and likely to be good value. No small part of this restraint, especially in the Magrez stable, perhaps, because of the 1/5 Cabernet Franc? Tant mieux! 2024–34+.
